Who are we?Wirral Liberal Democrats Youth and Students (WLDYS) is the youth and student wing of the Liberal Democrats on the Wirral. Everyone under 30 living in the Wirral, is entitled to join WLDYS. We may be linked to the national party, but we are a wholly autonomous organisation, which means we set our own policy, run our own campaigns and speak our own minds. WLDYS is run by its members for its members. We have an executive who deal with certain areas of WLDYS, but they are always accountable to the members of WLDYS, who can vote for the executive on a yearly basis, propose and approve policy and hold the whole organisation to account. You won't find a more democratic youth party! Elections measure the votes cast, but not why they were cast. The 2005 General Election is the beginning of a democratic process by which your MP represents you in Parliament. This website lets you tell them which policies from their manifestos you voted for (and which ones you didn't). In short, what your priorities are for them in Parliament. Not Apathetic - NotApathetic is a place where if you did not vote at the General Election, you can tell the world why. Instead of having no voice at all, you can explain why you won't be participating come election day. All you have to tolerate is that fact that if you put a reason up, other members of the public are allowed to respond to it. Any reason for not voting is an acceptable reason to submit to the site. Whether you don't have the time, or whether you're not allowed to vote, or if you don't like any of the parties, this site is for you. Perhaps the main aim of this site is to let you respond to politicians and journalists who like to theorise about why you might be choosing to stay at home, often attributing motives to you which you might not agree with. By posting here, you can talk back, and make your case for not voting. PledgeBank - PledgeBank is a site to help people get things done, especially things that require several people. The world needs such a service: lots of good things don't happen because there aren't enough organised people to do them. PledgeBank allows users to set up pledges and then encourages other people to sign up to them. A pledge is a statement of the form 'I will do something, if a certain number of people will help me do it'. The creator of the pledge then publicises their pledge and encourages people to sign up. Write To Them - The predecessor to this site, FaxYourMP.com, was built by a group of volunteers who thought that it would be a good thing if it were easier for people to contact their MPs. They Work for You - Keep tabs on your elected MP, and comment on what goes on in Parliament. For all its faults and foibles, our democracy is a profound gift from previous generations. Yet most people don't know the name of their MP, nor their constituency, let alone what their MP does or says in their name. This site aims to help bridge this growing democratic disconnect, in the belief that there is little wrong with Parliament that a healthy mixture of transparency and public engagement won't fix. They Want to be Elected - Add your comments to the party manifestos. The Public Whip - Public Whip is a project to watch Members of the United Kingdom Parliament, so that the public (people like us) can better understand and influence their voting patterns. They're an independent, non-governmental project. Heads Up - HeadsUp is a place where young people can debate political issues and current affairs. But it's not just about talking, it's about getting something done. The debates involve the UK's top decision-makers from parliament and government who want to understand the views and experiences of young Britain. Every debate is supported by background information, quizzes, online polls and can be used inside or outside of school. The site is looked after by the independent Hansard Society with sponsorship from the House of Commons and DfES. Karma Banque - KarmaBanque (est. July 14th, Bastille Day - 2002) is at the centre of a new activist movement which combines the civil disobedience of Gandhi with the financial savvy of George Soros to help change the economic and political landscape of the world! It is easy to get rich people to financially attack and impoverish other rich people **avoid wasting time with your campaigns - attack stock prices! **you don't need money to attack a company's stock price. However, many of the factors within society influencing the prevalence of Crime and Disorder are outside their control. Local Councils, Primary Care Trusts and Fire Services have joined the Police as lead agencies taking a holistic view to solving deep-rooted problems that have an effect on crime and disorder. Wirral Joint Community Safety Team is the ‘Action Arm’ of the Wirral Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership. The work of the Partnership takes in both reducing actual levels of crime and disorder, as well as reducing undue fear of crime felt by the people of Wirral. Wirral Joint Community Safety Team comprises members of these and other agencies working together in the same office to the same agenda. An audit of all crime and disorder statistics for the previous three years is compiled on a three-yearly basis. Those issues identified are addressed within the Partnership Strategy, compiled to determine reduction targets and actions for the following three years.
