Low Earners to Benefit from Tax Plan

A plan to help cut taxes for low and middle income earners has been welcomed by Liberal Democrats in West Wirral . Under the proposals discussed at the Party's recent Conference people who are struggling to make ends meet would see their taxes reduced.

The Liberal Democrats' Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Wirral West Councillor Peter Reisdorf commented,

“Liberal Democrats do believe that Income Tax should be cut for low earners. We would pay for this by increasing taxes on the wealthy and by cutting waste. The unacceptable reality is that in Britain today the poorest pay a higher proportion of their income in tax than the very wealthy.

“The government is wasting billions of pounds on things like botched IT systems and Identity Cards. Liberal Democrats want to see that money used on things that really make a difference, like education, care for the elderly and tax cuts for the people who need them most. We need to change the tax system so that it targets things we don't want, like pollution.”

"Liberal Democrats believe in tax cuts for families who are struggling in order to help them make ends meet. The money should go to people on low and middle incomes. We should do most for those with least and these plans would make nine out of ten taxpayers better off."
