LOCAL COUNCILLOR CHOSEN TO FIGHT PARLIAMENTARY SEAT

Local Liberal Democrats have chosen Wirral Councillor Peter Reisdorf as their prospective parliamentary candidate for the Wirral West constituency.

Speaking after his selection at the hustings meeting Peter said,

"I'm concerned about the negative effect the government has on our local area.  Most local government funding comes from central government, but Labour refuses to properly fund local councils.

“Here in Wirral, Liberal Democrats are using our strong influence on the Council to get action on the environment.  However there is only so much that we can do locally and it's shameful that the Labour government won't do more.”

Peter has been a councillor since winning a seat from the Tories in 2000.  He represents Greasby, Frankby and Irby Ward in Wirral West.

He was born and brought up in Wirral and joined the Party shortly after leaving school.  He has worked in the insurance and IT industries and is currently undertaking a computer studies degree course at Liverpool John Moores University .
