Budget Support for Wirral's Veterans Wirral's Veterans have been included in the Council's Budget proposals announced last week. Councillor Simon Holbrook, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group and Cabinet member for Corporate Services said, “It's important that we pay tribute to Wirral's veterans. “That is why we have made available this funding, for veterans of all ages and service experience, to help draw down matching funding from the Ministry of Defence for a Wirral Veterans Day, in line with the creation of a National Veterans Day.” Councillor Holbrook continued, “Veterans organisations here in Wirral will have the opportunity to seek funding from the Council for specific events such as the National Veterans Day event, which this year is to be held in Blackpool .
