New Cabinet team announced

New Liberal Democrat leader Councillor Simon Holbrook last night revealed his Cabinet team that will share power in Wirral's new joint administration.

The new Cabinet contains equal representation from the Liberal Democrats and Labour.

Simon will take on the Corporate Services portfolio,

“Every pound the council spends on running itself is a pound that is not available to spend on providing front line services. I am determined that the Council becomes more efficient and provides better value for money.

“The Council faces huge financial challenges and we need to take a long hard look at how we do things”.

The top Liberal Democrat priority for the new administration will be cleaner streets and a reliable bin collection service.

The new Streetscene Cabinet Member, Councillor Jean Quinn said,

People must have confidence in the reliability of the bin service if we are to raise the levels of recycling. People also expect that when they report something through to the Streetscene Call Centre something then gets done. These are our priorities.”
