Library Cuts Reversed The Liberal Democrat Councillor who led a petition against library hours cuts was today celebrating the return of Saturday opening. The library hours were restored in a dramatic turn of events at Wednesday's Budget Council meeting when Labour agreed Liberal Democrat amendments. Councillor Peter Reisdorf, Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Cultural Services said, “I'm delighted Labour have at last listened to the hundreds of people who were outraged by Labour's decision last year to close libraries on Saturday afternoons. “At last July's full council meeting we called for the cuts to be reversed following angry letters from residents. The issue was still provoking residents' anger in October when we presented a 200-signature petition to the Mayor of Wirral.”
