LIB DEMS DISAPPOINTED WITH LOCAL ELECTION RESULTS Speaking in response to the local election results, Leader of the Liberal Democrats in Wirral, Councillor Simon Holbrook said, “The local elections have produced a number of very disappointing results for the Liberal Democrats in Wirral and we haven't achieved what we had hoped. The Liberal Democrat vote has been squeezed in the key parliamentary marginals of Wirral South and Wirral West and this has carried through into the local election results. It is also particularly disappointing to lose hard working Prenton councillor Frank Doyle, who has lost out to Labour's strong national vote in Birkenhead. “I am pleased to welcome newly elected Liberal Democrat Councillors Alan Brighouse and Mark Johnston to the team, who have won hard fought battles in Oxton and Pensby wards, where again it is disappointing to have lost Mike Redfern. “I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all those people who voted Liberal Democrat for their support. We will continue to work hard on behalf of all Wirral residents.”
